This experience of working with words that speak so urgently to an image yet unformed keeps opening up for me. I am an American living in Ireland with Anglo Saxon roots. Being of mixed heritage, Irish, Scottish, German, the magnet for home is great. The land calls us always to our roots but as Terry recalls the most compelling journey is inward. What happens when you gaze at a mountain in the mist and your soul returns? What I am learning is that we all have a Cill Aodáin inside of us and we also have an Elsewhere that calls from time to time. We all have met people on the road that stir our hearts and sometimes make us angry and sometimes bring us to tears. Terry’s poems speak eloquently of the people of the place and even though I am not from here they stir me to remember my own family, relatives and friends along the way. It is a book about all of us and you will find that it resonates with you personally too. I am proud to be part of this three person – three countries collaborative. It is a blending of backgrounds and talents. Ireland, Germany and America each are found in Cill Aodáin and Nowhere Else. Words, design and pictures all came together to make this stunning volume of remembered and forgotten dreams.
